Rodea

Well this took some time to come out, but it eventually did. Too bad it didn't exactly match the expectations, considering the guy behind this is a respectable name behind some older games. Couldn't miss on preordering it due to the fact that it includes the physical version of the original Wii game.

Resident... Evvvvillllll

One beautiful sunny day, I was walking around trying to find promotions just before Xmas when I came across this thingy that I've never seen before for sale over here: a Wii Shot Blaster themed with Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles (a game I still need to get). It looked great and I had never seen one in real life before (only auction pics). The price was 16 euros : "why not?", me thinks. Decided to leave if for a few more days because I didn't have that much money at that moment, but early this month I went straight to the store and bought it. It does look great!

I'm in love with this game

Yep, that's right. One of my biggest expectations in recent video game releases... My expectations were not  just simply fulfilled... but also highly surpassed. Xenoblade!

When I first heard about this game, I knew the chances to see it being released in Europe were very very slim. In fact, I was pretty sure this game would never see the daylight outside Japan. Yet, nearly two years later, we got the big news: Xenoblade was coming to us. The NA gamers were kinda screwed, thankfully it wasn't us european gamers this time. I am so glad this game came out of Japan. Really glad!

Everything about this game is either good or exceptional. I've played many games with great HD graphics but only a few made my jaw drop. This game might not have the best graphics ever, but the amazing art behind the environment design is absolutely amazing, so amazing that I haven't felt so impressed with a game for a very long time.

As you can probably guess, I have the limited edition with the red controller. It's a shame this edition didn't come with anything else. NoE promised my country that other bonus items were going to be offered to us, but we only received the same thing everyone else in Europe received. Shame, shame, nobody really cares about the portuguese market anyway.

I still haven't finished the game and I'm still quite a few hours away from that, but I've scored over 100 hours already. I gave up being a completist since my free time ran out (ya know, job, training, that stuff...) but this time I am trying to do everything I can during my first play through. I highly doubt I will be doing a 2nd run though. No matter how good this game is I will want to move on to other games such as Dead Island and Dead Space 2. Too many Dead games to play...

More zombies!

Not too long ago I've added the House od the Dead 2 & 3 Zombie pack to this blog. But recently I found out a pretty impressive pack called Super Zombie Pack that comes with a black shotgun to insert the wiimote and nunchuk. When I received it, it was love at first sight. I am not really a fan of regular game + gun bundles, but I felt in love with this one, it's just awesome!

Eggman?? It's Robotnik you fools!

And the mascot we all used to love partially loses its shine when it comes to 3D games. Oh well... Sonic Colours is a good game. I've played just a little bit, but it's not the sort of game that catches my attention. I was fairly more excited about Sonic 4 than this one. And I still did not play 4 (I hate downloadale-only games!). I got this limited edition pack for the Wii. There's also a similar pack for DS but comes with three different figurines. It looks pretty cool!

Happy Birthday Mario! (hey, it's never too late ^_^)

Ahhh... back to the old days when videogames were as fun as ever! This edition is amazing, it's a great way to celebrate Mario's 30th anniversary! I really - really loved this edition and it's contents, for such an awesome price. I only wished they also included Super Mario orld on the Snes, but I'm happy enough! Happy Birthday Mario!!!

Go to Jail!

And with that same edition of 007, I also got this Monopoly edition for the Wii. This is a press kit for sure as it comes with a media disc. I don't know much about monopoly on videogame consoles though but I couldn't let this one get away!

Nobody really expected this game would return

But Nintendo surprised us by releasing an old time classic: 007 Goldeneye. I must say that I didn't play the first game that much mainly because I was not given an N64 back in the days. I only played at my friend's home and even so the console wasn't his. So, there isn't much I know about the first game besides all the videos and images I saw back then. I believe it's considered one of the best shooters of its age and it's impressive that this particular title saw the day of light once again on the Wii.

This litle pack I found is realy interesting! Unfortunately it doesn't come with the gold controller, so I'll have to get that pack some time in the future. But does have two small bottler of alcoohol. How long do these last? I hope forever cause I want to keep the bottles sealed :)

What's an unemployed zombie? It's a dead body... >_>

Bought two shooters for the Wii. Both include their own gun. I'm talking about The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Zombie Pack plus Resident Evil The Darkside Chronicles, both with their plastic guns. Nice packs!

Super Mario Galaxy Wiiiii :)

I though the previous game was amazing. I simply could not expect that they could do an even better one. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is just amazing, impressive, awesome, I'm having a lot of fun playing this game. If you have a Wii and don't have the game yet, go buy it! It's a must!

Red Steel 2

The first game was no big deal. But this one came out better. Play.com released a special preorder pack with a couple of extra stuff. It's nothing more than an extra box with some codes, postcards and a bullet replica. I bought it with this pack that comes with the Wii MotionPlus.

The Hunt begins again! And it's better than ever before!

A huge success in Japan, Capcom's Monster Hunter series didn't sell so well outside that country. Still, its popularity seems to be rising quite a bit specially with this new release for the Wii. Unlike the latest collector's editions where nothing but a steel case/slipcase, some crappy artbooks and some DLC codes are included, this one is filled with some pretty useful accessories, such as the Wii speak, classic controller, the game (duh...) and a Lagiacrus statue. An additional Rathalos statue was offered on preorders. I'm pretty glad I got this Ultimate Hunter Pack. The price for all its contents with the game included plus the two busts is unbeatable at the moment. Definitely worth the money.

Final Fantasy XIII

Finally, it came. The first new generation Final Fantasy game. Honestly, the game itself is not that good. It misses so many good things about the Final Fantasy Universe that... I don't know...

There is little to explore, and not that many sidequests to do. Not many places to explore, no cities and houses to go around searching for clues and items... the closes thing you get to that only happens near the end of the game and there isn't much to do anyway. The closest thing you get to a world map is the so called "open world" in Chapter 11 that's little more than a scenario like Calm Lands from FFX with enemies running all over the place. I miss a world map with cities and towns and airships to ride, I miss all those scenarios where you could talk to people and explore the houses searching for bonuses and small sidequests... where's all that gone???

The game is basically a one way road. When you seem to find an alternative path, it only leads you to one of those item balls - in fact you really learn that tere's nothing else but an item ball in every corner, in every alternative pach, in every place that seems to be the wrong way. Some scenarios are just too repetitive and if it wasn't for the battle system this game would be more suited as a hack n slash rather than an RPG with Final Fantasy in the title. the game's still big, but the ending is rushed... The story may become a mess if you don't read the datalog, and a lot of questions are very hard to ask. Despite all that, it's not a bad game. The storyline is good, the graphics and scenarios are stunning and the overall experience of playing the game is good. But still, not what I was expecting for a new Final Fantasy game. I miss those times when I played through VII, VIII and IX. After that it's been a downhill ride, seriously... Just sharing my opinion...

Above we have the two collector's Editions for both PS3 and 360, as well as a sealed copy of the regular 360 game with the limited edition slipcase. I expect to get the limited edition slipcase for the PS3 as well as the HMV exclusive slipcase for both editions. And not to forget the Crystal Bearers on the Wii which I got thanks to a promotion.

After taking a break... a new update!

Little time and patience to update this in the last couple of months. I had to make plenty of decisions of what to get and what not to get. As you will probably notice I can't keep up with all the limited stuff that's being released, some of which are sold out even before the release date. Prices for press editions on ebay are also rising a lot and that prevents me from getting them. Times are tough for collectors with less money when some foreign buyers pop up and pay 100s to get their hands in particular editions, increasing their prices to ridiculous amounts, far more than they are actually worth. Speculation on auctions sites right now is pretty nasty thanks to crappy sellers whose purpose is to get easy money from people that really care about particular items. And that sucks. It just plain sucks. I've never seen so many ridiculous buy it now prices before.

It's nearly impossible for me to keep up with this, so yes, I am leaving plenty of stuff behind. I hope that in the future my collection sees better days. I also have a personal life and I simply can't spend a lot of cash right now. I don't think that I will be getting those fancy editions I was used to right now, but I won't give up and I will deffinitely get them in the future. I've left a few behind and they will not be easy to find in the future. I've came this far in my collection and I'm sure I will be able to find them some day.

Here's the first thing I got before last Xmas... a Limited Edition Black Wii Console. I thought the price was pretty good, the console looks nice, it was a good purchase.

Black and white... and red...

Another little thingy above: a promo pack for the game MadWorld on Wii. Gore and Violence at its greatest. Besides the black envelope and the t-shirt, it comes with the cool OST disc, which was also an offer for preorders. I do have the game as well, but I forgot to
include it in the picture :)

yOu Shot mE DoWn BaNgBaNg!

This game does have some really disgusting scenes. It was awarded for being the game where the F-word is used in a record number of times. And that's no exhageration. I've finished the game once and I've heard the F-word so many times it's almost ridiculous. House of the Dead Overkill marks the return of the well known arcade series to the console system, and it certainly is quite good despite the nasty scenes and obscene language used. It's making fun of movies where the dialogues are as good as crap - except that in this game they're actually fun. And the ending scene is really creepy. I mean, did the weird dude really went up his f**** up mom's... Okay I'm starting to talk like the game, enough here.

The pic above shows the promo release and the AUS exclusive BangBang Box set, smething I decided to buy when I realised the pain it would be to get it in the future. Better look for it now if you want it, otherwise it will be a pain to get, you hear me.

Wii like special covers

Yeah I like those card sleeves and slipcases with a nice artistic illustration. I always try to collect them, even if they are nothing more than just exclusive gimmicks from certain uk stores to get more sales, maybe? I only know the ones I have above: Super Smash Bros. Brawl + post cards, Okami and Wall-E. Yes, I love Wall-E :P.

Funny Money

What do the two items above have in common? They both contain a special coin with two of the most important videogame characters in history. Took me a while to get both, but I finally made up my mind and picked the first chance to get them.
