I am still not sure if this was a good or a bad decision, but I've bought the portuguese version of Assassin's Creed Buccaneer Edition. It's exclusive to a store over here and most are either sold or in terrible condition because these editions are victims of torture by regular retailers who simply don't care about the sh!t they sell. It took me some time to find a near mint one. This is the PS3 version because it's the only one available in Portuguese. All the other versions for different systems come in Spanish only...

Since we were talking about AC...
Here's a little extra I received not too long ago: the exclusive Austrian wooden box of Assassin's Creed Revelations. This one was also for the Xbox 360 and it was very cheap: only 14 euros. The game is used, but I just wanted the box anyway :). It's called Black Edition, which is not the most original name for an AC edition considering the second instalment already received something with the exact same name.
Being a pirate is... expensive!
It finally arrived, the yearly fever of Assassin's Creed collectors is here and this time it brought us two very special editions among other equally important press kits, editions and promotional items.
Ubishop, the online store I hate the most for valid reasons, released one exclusive Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag: the Black Chest Edition, which I was able to get for the Xbox 360 thanks to a very kind buddy from CE. Thanks a lot Sneaks, if it wasn't for you I wouldn't be able to obtain this edition unless I paid stupid eBay prices :)

Too... many... please... stop it!
Assassin's Creed really is a major pain in the ass to collect. I hate Ubisoft, but it's true that they sometimes do a very decent job with their videogame releases. It's their mandatory online connection, milky DLCs, crappy costumer service and UPlay's restrictions to countries they don't like to post to (without even explaining why) that make me dislike this company.
I already had the Animus Edition, but now that the regular Collector's Edition price dropped to 20 euros, why miss it? It's Assassin's Creed after all and there are many crazy fans around the globe so price is certain to increase.

Assassin's Creed Revelations, just one of 100 different editions made
Yeah... they did it again. How many different versions of Assassin's Creed Revelations exist around the world? Too many. I got what seemed to me the best version of this game. The package is great, despite not being your regular rectangular box. This one's a little b*tchy to store... The 3D effect isn't the greatest but heck it's just the package and looks good overall. The Encyclopaedia is amazing. The rest of the contents are the same as the regular Collector's Edition. Haven't tried the game yet as I just finished Dead Space 2 and will move on to other games now, so this one will stay for later. How would I rate this edition? The package is good, or should I say instead, looks good. It's a big box. The encyclopaedia is awesome but unfortunately it seems it's available for sale separately but I still have to confirm if it really is the same book or not. Considering its price I'd rate this as 8.0, mainly because of the book, since the contents are basically the same from the CE which is cheaper.

Look! That guy killed another one!
I've already gotten Assassin's Creed II Black Edition for the 360 but since I'm taking my collection quite seriously I've kept it sealed and sealed it shall remain. Then the Codex Edition for Brotherhood came out. There was this White Edition I as still missing but I obviously expected to get it. Well, for 30 euros or so, I thought it was a good option, especially because I really wanted to play the game. So I opened my white edition this time and decided to play the game. Honestly, I barely knew this was a sandbox game. I was expecting something more... straightforward. After all those 10 (if not 100s) of hours playing different GTA games and such, I kinda grew tired of sandbox games. This game however did fairly well. A little repetitive, but overall the story develops fairly well and it's actually enjoyable to play. I eventually finished the game but obviously left a lot of things to do to save my patience for other games and I no longer have the spare time to play like I used to in the past. Instead of perfecting games I just move on to others now.
I must say that the Codex edition is one of the greatest collector's editions I've seen lately. Not because it's impressive, but because it is a very complete edition, brings a lot of extra stuff and all fit in a nicely looking box (although the plastic feels kinda cheap, but it's not much worse than GoW III's Pandora's Box anyway). The only think missing is a better outer package (Halo Reach anyone?) and an action figure or statue like the previous games. But then, it's not a huge box that wastes a lot of space and costs a lot of money such as many of the latest special editions and the price was pretty good for all it comes with: 90 euros, just about 20 euros more than most regular games on their release date over here. Deffinitely worth purchasing in my opinion!
I'm still missing Auditore Edition though, but that was just a handicaped Codex Edition with less contents and the difference in price was so small it almost makes no sense to buy it over the Codex one. It does look very good though, great eyecandy effect they got in there. But I'd rather have a beautiful babe's face on the box... Still, something I'll try to get in the future but not right now.
Pictures are (obviously) from the PS3 versions of Assassins Creed II White Edition and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood Codex Edition.

Black, White, Special Film... Anything else?
Seriously, why so many different editions for the same game at the same time? It makes no sense! I miss the time when games only had a regular release. Then there were those who actually had a special edition. Right now we came to the point where nearly every top game has a special edition and many have two or three different editions, some of which are exclusive to particular stores. And they sell like cookies. And to make it even worse, some are pretty crappy and include little more than a different package and some downloadable codes.
Thankfully it was not the case with this version of Assassin's Creed II. The Black Edition is actually packed with many goodies. No I did not get any other edition of this particular game, and I seriously don't expect to get them until I find a fine price drop. The Special Film Edition will certainly be an exception as it's not as easy to get. This Black Edition was a preorder as well, otherwise I'd probably be stuck with a used edition for a stupid price off ebay right now. Damn it.

After a moment of silence
No time and little patience to update this blog. I will try to get it moving again, but I no longer have as much spare time as I used to.
Here's a picture of two editions I got last August. Two collector's editions for Xbox360, both sealed: Assassin's Creed and Bioshock. I don't have any other special games right now but still managed to get these two. I am more focused in getting new furniture to organize my collection and in getting regular games, specially for older consoles. It's getting harder to find rare and unusual editions lately because of the increasing number of collectors and speculators who are selling less common titles for absurd prices, both in ebay, other aution websites, forums and even real 2nd hand stores. Disgusting people looking for easy money and increasing prices... I've never seen so many "buy it now" auctions on ebay as before. I guess Ebay is no longer what it used to be... *shrugs*
