Not just in the US after all!

Mortal Kombat Ultimate Edition was originally announced as an NTSC exclusive only release in America. I wasn't much interested in that edition mostly because it was too big and expensive to import. But then I found out that a PAL version exists. France received its own 'Edition Ultimate' which is certainly better than the crappy and over-expensive Collector's Edition we got over here.

And then the price dropped to less than 60 euros and I got it. I'm actually happy that I was able to get this edition for such a good price and arrive in perfect condition, still sealed.

The hot ladies kill me twice!

Yep, after all these years, Mortal Kombat tries to go back to the original gameplay. The pictures above are from the European collector's edition of the game which is quite poor compared to the US version. I also bought an incomplete press kit for the Xbox 360 but it was the best I could get considering the stupid prices being asked.

I must say that... while being good, this game still fails a little at some points. I loved the story mode but at the same time I think the story is too rushed and a little repetitive at times. But it was still enjoyable. The gameplay for this game is actually quite good for a 3D game compared to the previous releases on PS2. The graphics in my opinion are nothing revolutionary. They are good, but I was expecting a little more realism like the original old gen games. Finally, why was Motaro left away? Well, to spoil the game a little for you, he does appear in the game, the only problem is that you only see him in a couple of sequences and he's not a playable character. Maybe a future DLC will include him? Oh well...

For those who were aware of the cosplays... man those girls were hot! Kitana, Mileena and Sonya. I loved Kitana =) but all were good in my opinion.

The best of two worlds!

In recent times, we have seen some things that seemed impossible in the past. The most "shocking" one is probably sonic competing against Mario in the same game. That would be unthinkable in the past, but today everything's possible. And the latest team up brings us two famous worlds together. On one side, we have the legendary Mortal Kombat warriors and on the other we have the amazing DC Comic super heroes such as Batman. Mortal Kombat is probably among the greatest beat'em ups ever created in videogaming history. The games were quite something during the 2d and 16bit generation consoles. But seems its popularity is now quite far away from what it was. As for DC, we certainly had quite a few interesting games in the past (remember the Batman games on Snes? Those were pretty good!) but these heroes hardly ever appear in any other style besides action games. Ahh good old times where those Disney and hero platformers were amazing...
Above is the MK vs DC press kit. Another collectible I couldn't let go :)
