Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year

Yeah I haven't updated this for a while but I have some new stuff to add to this blog. I am currently starting to purchase some important retro games. Only the ones I really want though. I also need to purchase new materials and new furniture to protect everything I currently have. My room is really small, I don't even have the appropriate furniture to keep all these boxes but I will change that soon. I'm finally taking a break of purchasing special editions. I still need to buy many though, but I'm really short on money and I can't keep up with so many rare items and new releases at the same time. right now I have about 150 special editions of all sorts and there are at least 30 that I do not have yet, but I expect to get them with time and patience. It would not be fun if I could get everything at once anyway and this is the reason why I give so much importance and value to my collection.

I managed to get a Wii for this christmas with Wii sports and the new Zelda (thanks mom :D). I also purchased a special box set of Breath of Fire 3 and a Nes Classic collection box set for Gameboy Advance, among a few older games, used and new / sealed. I am also selling some duplicate items I have to release more space for new items.

Anyway, enough talk. I will update this really soon. Meanwhile, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year for everyone that visits my blog :).

Favourite editions #10

The last edition I chose as a favourite is this Ridge Racer Type 4 pack. There are two boxes with different contents. This one has a limited edition game with a special cover. The other one has two discs, one is the game and the other is the soundtrack. I have them both. This also includes other items such as a t-shirt / cap, and leaflets about the game. It took me a while to get the two of them, but these editions are not quite rare since there are about 12000 units. The one pictured is still sealed.

This is a very rare Alien Hominid Eurogamer Edition. The good thing about this is that there are only 100 in the world. Not the rarest item in my collection, but a serious treasure here...

Favourite editions #8

This strangely shaped box is a Medievil 2 press kit. It's very unique but unfortunately it's also very fragile. This particular one is signed by the creators and there are only very very few signed like this one. I do not thing the signature adds more value to it though but I also own another one without the signatures.

This special box is is from Primal. Very interesting indeed, and one of the first boxes I got. This editions was what made me collect games more seriously. That's why it's so important in my collection. I will now dedicate to purchase more regular editions since I already have a lot of special stuff. I will obviously give priority to the special editions but from now on I'll focus on many usual games. This box is made of card attempting to imitate an old wooden box with a scratch. The inside looks really good. Comes with a very interesting notebook with information about the game and two discs. Also comes with an ilustrated scroll.

This red tube is a special edition of the game "Rise to Honour" with Jet Li. One of my most special editions I have. It comes with a black t-shirt, a paper with information about the game, a big kakemono (or whatever it's called, like a poster) and tree discs including the game itself. The tube is pretty big. Really unusual.

Favourite editions #5

This is a Survival kit for Tekken Dark Resurrection on the PSP that includes a promo copy of the game and an additional DVD. Also comes with an informative book and 14 survival cads for the main characters tha tells you real-life procedures to protect yourself against the character's attacks in the game. Most of those cards *were supposed* to be funny. This particular edition is quite important in my collection.

This Metal Gear Solid 3 book is a very interesting one. It comes with a paper model of Metal Gear to build and several leaflets about the game. Also includes information about the Twin Snakes on GC. This is one of the official leaflets released in Europe to promote the game and is very hard to find. I will post the other edition when I have te chance.

The most creepy box I have is this Ghost Hunter dead doll box, imitating an old "top secret" box. Rare as hell. Comes with several DVDs including a promo copy of the game.

One of the most interesting boxes in my collection is this Jak & Daxter Wood box. Includes a map, a book with 3 DVDs (one of them being the original game disc) and a t-shirt inside a bag. The box itself is pretty big. Awesome.

One of my favourite editions is this Sony Pack. One of the most simple editions I own, yet probably the one I like the most. Includes small game leaflets for Shadow of the Colossus, Genji, Everybody's Golf and Soul Calibur 3, as well a Demo DVD for all games and a bonus DVD with additional features. Everythin PAL, as I basically collect PAL stuff.

Bored...

I will be listing my favourite editions and games in no particular order pretty soon, so you can expect more pictures of cool boxsets and similar stuff. I have not purchased anthing new, but I will dedicate to regular games and stop with the special editions for a few months unless something important shows up. There are a lot of things I did not show yet but I think it's best to show my collection slowly.

Syphon Filter

When the PS2 was almost here, Syphon Filter 3 was still being released for the PS1. In fact the Syphon Filter games did not call my attention that much but I did enjoy playing through the first game and consider it a good gaming experience.

Formula 1

I must say thay I only collect the special versions of these games. I actually forgot to add the promo box for the new F1 2006 on that photo. F1 97 was the only game I really bought to play. I still consider it to be the best, and one of the PS1 classic games every good collector should add to its collection. I don't really enjoy playing F1 games tough. In that picture you see the F1 97 limited Edition (with a card sleeve that makes sounds when opened), F1 99 Limitd edition Box set, F1 2001 Special edition and the F1 2005 promo that's still sealed and I have no idea what's inside.

GTA

One of the most famous series after being released for PS2. The first games were entertaining but they didn't convince me much. A lot of people still love them. I started to take this game more serious after purchasing GTAIII the day it was relased. It's still my favourite and the one I played the most. It surely has a lot of violence, but I don't think this game will make people drive over pedestrians during the rush hour just for fun (lol). Let's see what I have... the limited edition of the 1st game, the collector's edition with all the main PS1 games and all PS2 games but Liberty City Stories. I don't know if I should purchase the regular PS1 versions knowing the collector's edition has them all but I am tempted to. Plus I must get the London Special Edition too.

Samurai Spirit

Onimusha series. Resident evil gameplay with swords and a much more dynamic gameplay. I really like this sort of games. My collection includes the original Onimusha game, Onimusha2, Onimusha 2 promo edition with an interesting card box and the Onimusha 3 Special edition with the bonus "making of" DVD as well as an outer sleeve. Unfortunately, the lack of cash and a few priorities are the main reason why I did not purchase the last Onimusha game yet. I don't really care about the Blade Warriors or the portable games but I might consider buying them some time later. Of all the games, I must say I liked the first two but I did not find the last one that interesting. However, the CGI intro of the 3rd game is one of the best and most impressive intros I have ever seen in a game, with very good battle scenes.

A couple of new stuff...

The background sucks I know. These are just a couple of items I purchased lately and that I could not add to the pictures already posted before. First is the Australian version of Budokai 3 that comes with a large tin to hold the other Budokai games. Secondly comes a Colin Mcrae Rally 3 version with a card sleeve and different cover. Finally, and mos importantly (to me), it's the Gran Turismo Geneve 2004 Demo that comes with the Toyota MTRC. I already have this in the NTSC Format but I finally managed to get the PAL version, since I basically collect PAL games.

Tired...

Unfortunately for me, I did not complete the last year in university yet because I couldn't finish everything for the exam. I only showed up at the final presentation to see how my friends would do. I'm really tired but unfortunately I will return to the university tomorrow. I only had a few days to rest but since I only failed at a single class I should not have much to do during this year. I now have some spare time so I decided to update the blog. I also hope to learn HTML and Flash within the next few weeks. I will be updating this blog shortly.

ICO

No, it is not one of my favourite games, but I deffinitely recommend it to someone who's looking for an adventure game and any true collector must have this game. My collection includes the regular version, the limited edition with art cards, a promo book with a demo and a game from the UK official PS2 mag and the Shadow of the Colossus cardbox game. I don't have the regular version for this latest because I didn't want but someday I might still get it. The most important and interesting item in this collection is the ICO box. Similar to the fortress walls, the box holds a candle and a double DVD pack. There's a meaning behind this: the candle inside this box represents the light in the middle of the darkness. If you played/know the game you certainly understand what this means.
